A Note to Blues Fans
We are a few days removed from the Blackhawks winning their second Stanley Cup in four years and already the hatred from Blues fans has grown out of control.
Listen I get it, because I am a New Jersey Devils fan and when the New York Rangers won the Cup in 1994, I was beyond pissed off because my rival team just won. In the end you have to give credit where it is due. I get that the Blackhawks are the rivals, but you cannot fault them for how they have gone about winning.
Prior to winning their first Cup in 2010, they had to rebuild and they were a team in disarray. A dwindling fan base and bad product on the ice turned into several first-round draft picks, which has become the nucleus of their success. Toews, Kane and Keith have become the faces of their franchise, which has led to their success.
On the other hand, the Blues have drafted well over the years and where fans have grown frustrated with the progress of Berglund, Oshie, etc. is they have not had the impact of the players from the Hawks. Give it time. How much more time can you give them?
Well, general manager Doug Armstrong is a believer that the players on the current roster can win. I think they can too. They have an owner who is committed to winning, a coach who has won a Stanley Cup, and a roster of players that now have the experience of making the post season. A lot has happened with this team in the last few years and much of the personnel has changed. But, be patient; long-term success isn't built overnight. It's a process.
