Wiese's College Football Picks for Week 4

College Football Picks Week 4

LSU -17.5 vs. Auburn-
I really like the Bayou Bengals in this battle of the SEC Tigers. LSU's defense is shaping up to be even better than Alabama's, and that's saying something. Pair that with the emergence of QB Zach Mettenberger under new OC Cam Cameron, and you have a team that should handle Auburn with little problem. I think Auburn will win 8 or 9 games this year, but this won't be one of them.

Stanford -7 vs. ASU-
I liked Stanford to cover a week ago at Army, but got tripped up by the early start time, and the pesky Army option. This is more Stanford's speed, facing a conference foe, at home, and at night. This spread seems waaayyyy too low to me, in a game where I could see the Cardinal win by 3 scores. Arizona St. lucked out big time at home vs. Wisconsin last weekend, this week...no such luck.

Tennessee +17 @ Florida-
This game used to be the premiere early season match-up in the SEC. Now....it's a mere afterthought after UGA/USC and Bama/A&M for a the last couple weeks. These two teams are unlikely to see the light of day in the SEC East race, although Florida's defense is still fierce. Tennessee is coming off a beat down at the hands of Oregon, and are not as bad as 59-14 spread shows. This should be a low scoring affair, and I can't completely rule out the Vols winning this game outright.

Mizzou -3 @ Indiana-
Indiana is not good, they are experienced, but they are not good. Mizzou has more speed, and better players, the only thing playing against the Tigers is taking this game to the road. Mizzou finds a way to play down to their competition, but has had 2 weeks to prepare for this game. The bye week, and the talent sways in favor of the Tigers, so MIzzou is the pick.

Houston -2.5 vs. Rice-
Houston was one of my early season surprise picks, in the new AAC. These are two Houston area rivals, and it may be a bit of a coin flip. Admittedly, I really like my first 3 picks, I can live with my Mizzou pick, this merely had a somewhat attractive line for a Cougars team I like. My confidence level here is probably just a 4 out of 10.
